NGHN designated as Planned Parenthood’s national health information technology MSO.
Planned Parenthood Federation (PPFA) and NGHN have finalized an agreement to develop a national Planned Parenthood HIT MSO. The funding to support this work has been formally approved by both the PPFA Executive Committee and the NGHN Board.
In July 2009, PPFA presented to ACEC a concept paper on Building a National Management Services Organization for Federation-wide Clinical Information Systems Data Collection and Reporting. At the ACEC Meetings in December of 2009 and March of 2010, more details were given on the proposed model for a national MSO, the collaboration between PPFA’s ABACUS team and NGHN to facilitate standards development. With this there were constant negotiations between PPFA and NGHN on the larger MSO strategy, including data warehousing / business intelligence reporting, application service provider strategies and implementation support.
“We are thrilled to move this project from concept to reality. The MSO will build on the expertise and experience of NGHN as it evolves its business to offer strategic HIT-related products and services to all affiliates.” , says Lisa David V.P. of Affiliate Services.
NGHN will now began work to hire senior leadership, further its national presence and develop additional services to support Planned Parenthood.
